Meet the Hemingway Bailey team
We’re here to help you and solve your problems – don’t be afraid to get in touch.
Alan Hemingway has worked in industry for over 20 years as an accountant. In that time he has built up a detailed knowledge of business. He knows how to get high quality financial information out of the systems that he has used. He is particularly skilled at analysing this information so clients make well informed decisions for their business.
He has held a number of senior Financial Controller roles in different industries. This experience is now being used to benefit the clients of Hemingway Bailey.
Amongst the industries he has worked in are:
- Food Production
- Electronic Equipment Manufacture
- Commercial Vehicles Dealership
- Capital Equipment
This varied experience means that Alan can quickly see what are the key financial numbers for your business. Working with you he will leave you the tools to help you get this information from your financial systems. Having been trained in industry, he is particularly adept at explaining what the information is telling you.
This experience is available to businesses ranging from Start Ups where getting the correct systems in place at the beginning will mean better information and decision making later. Established businesses can make use of these accounting skills to help to improve their profitability through specific projects.
Away from work, Alan lives with his wife and son in Beverley and follows the fortunes of Hull City, while being a qualified football coach with Beverley White Star Academy. He is also a mentor with Hull Children’s University.

Evie Molloy is training to become an accountant at Hemingway Bailey whilst also studying for her AAT qualification at East Riding College, before moving onto her professional qualification. Becoming a trainee has given Evie theoretical knowledge as well as on the job training and essential business experience.
Training on the job means Evie can use Alan’s experience to further her knowledge. It also means that she will be trained in line with Hemingway Bailey practices; giving detailed information, supporting clients and giving clients the knowledge to understand their systems and figures thoroughly.
In September, Evie was named Intermediate Apprentice of the Year 2014 at the Yorkshire and the Humber National Apprenticeship Awards in Leeds because of her hard work as an apprentice. Evie also runs her own company, MixEd, which aims to give young people the opportunity to develop their skills and progress their careers.
In her own time, Evie lives with her family in Beverley and is a loyal supporter of Hull Kingston Rovers. She enjoys walking, and in summer 2014 took part in the National Three Peaks challenge to raise money for Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis. Evie volunteers at 4th Beverley St. Mary’s Guides each week, organising and running meetings and camps on a regular basis.

In that time Joanne has worked alongside various sized businesses, ranging from individual sole trader businesses to multi-million pound limited companies. Joanne is currently at the finalist stage in her ACCA qualification, with two exams remaining.
Becoming a member of the Hemingway Bailey team has allowed Joanne to utilise her previous accounts experience and help contribute to the growth and development of the Hemingway Bailey team and its clients, whilst furthering her own knowledge in new areas of accountancy.
Outside of work, Joanne lives with her husband and son in Hull and enjoys fun family days out. Joanne likes to go camping and is a big music fan, often travelling with her friends to go and see live performances of her favourite bands.
Ruby Magson is training to become an accountant at Hemingway Bailey, alongside studying her AAT qualification at college, where she will progress onto her professional qualification. Working in the office and at college alongside each other has given Ruby the academic skills required but also the practical knowledge, enabling her to put this into practice.
Working with Evie, another apprentice at Hemingway Bailey has benefited Ruby. She uses not only Alan’s many years of knowledge working in industry to help further her knowledge, but skills Evie has already learned in the workplace and college. This means Ruby will be working with clients, supporting them and understanding the system in practice.
Outside of work, Ruby lives with her mum in Beverley. Previously living around the Hedon area, Ruby is new to life in a busy town. Ruby loves adventure and going on countryside walks with her family who live near Pickering. She is also a qualified St. John ambulance cadet and has a wide range of first aid skills.
